fly hatches in october

As summer ends and autumn gets a hold, the number of fly hatches diminishes to three main types....

      Sedges

The Great Red Sedge appears during October, whilst most other sedges have concluded their activity for the year

 

 

Imitate with a Cinnamon Sedge in a 10 or an 8, or try a DaddyLong Legs

     Buzzers

Buzzers will be hatching right through the winter months, especially on the milder days. Expect hatches in anything above 7c

      Olives

Olives will be hatching on the truly mild days of winter as a rule, but you can expect hatches on chalkstreams to begin in temperatures as low as 4c
